# Pengo score target provenance — primary leaderboard check, 7 October 2026

Stefano supplied a new reference and requested a200k publication checkpoint. The live [Twin Galaxies MAME Points leaderboard](https://www.twingalaxies.com/games/leaderboard-details/Pengo-set-1-rev-C/mame) was read in a JavaScript browser on7October2026. Its top five entries are:

The first entry is marked undisputed, submitted22September2020, version106, TGSAP. These are human results on that specific track, not positions awarded to the laboratory.

The track's View rules dialog specifies Medium, Upright, bonus life30000, Rack Test Off, **five initial lives**. Its historical set mapping is `pengo` through0.251 and `pengoja` from0.252 through the dialog's stated0.271 endpoint. The [official MAME0.289 driver](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mamedev/mame/mame0289/src/mame/pacman/pengo.cpp) confirms `pengoja` as Japan315-5010revC. The unchanged lab baseline is MAME0.289/`pengoja`, Medium/Upright/bonus30000/RackOff, **three initial lives**, DSW1=176/DSW2=204. Set naming and these settings are reconciled, but the initial-life count differs and an assisted planner is a separate category. We do not claim Twin Galaxies equivalence, human leaderboard membership or a world record.

The user's new long-term comparison benchmark is1,492,220; exceeding it numerically would require at least1,492,230 with10-point units, **after the game's legal high-score/rollover behavior and an appropriate reported score measure are verified**. The frozen A09 attempt still targets300000. The million remains an intermediate numerical aspiration, not a native HUD/cumulative result already proved. The16-bitx10/max655350/wrap655360 analysis is static; legal boundary behavior is unobserved. Before any target above500k, legal probes must close this issue without RAM writes or invented totals.

The current publication decision is **M03B/200k**, the already admitted216480A08tape:36rounds complete,ACT5thirdcycle partial,4remaininglives/0detecteddeaths, two NEW exact native resets and terminal pixel-score gate. A08's preregistered300k goal remains NUL; publication of a lower verified prefix does not change that outcome. M01/M02/M03/M04 identifiers and all old provenance files remain historical snapshots.
