# PENGO-E012 — diagnose ACT3 UNKNOWN, no search

Frozen before probes. Existing E009 best score9790 is a best verified planner
trajectory, not a full-game record. No score search, N1b, native restore or
diamond-based objective is authorized during this diagnostic.

1. Read the retained full E009 chosen trace, preserving the original reader.
Locate the first UNKNOWN after the independently measured ACT3 ready frame
6017; distinguish transient mid-action frames from the first persistent
UNKNOWN at the terminal branch. Report both if they differ.
2. Replay the exact reset prefix to that first persistent UNKNOWN. Capture
each frame in the boundary window, full observed tile/object state and RAM
differences before/after. Raw RAM/crops stay private; reports expose only
observations, counts and hashes. No save-state load or RAM write.
3. From the same reset prefix execute exactly600 neutral physical frames.
4. Independently replay the same prefix for each legal gameplay hardware input:
neutral, U/D/L/R, button alone, U/D/L/R+button. COIN/START are excluded. Use
a fixed32-frame diagnostic hold followed by568 neutrals; each suffix totals
   600. These are hardware-legal probes, not macro admission of an UNKNOWN
phase. Check prefix trace identity before interpreting every result.
5. Check diamond-sequence and last-Sno-Bee-escape hypotheses against positions,
count/state changes, score, lives and native images. Neither is assumed.
Compare death hypothesis as well. No opportunistic continuation search.
6. A reader revision requires independent reproduced event evidence and a
targeted regression. Preserve old reader/bridge/search artifacts. No
planning restart until the diagnosis and all requested gates are closed.

Budget: one trace inspection,10 independent fresh reset probes through first
persistent UNKNOWN+600, plus at most two independent confirmation replays.
All probe inputs and source hashes are registered before launch. A failure or
ambiguous event is reported and retained, not silently relabeled.
